Lore

"Raise the Jacques, Mr. Sanhope, and call up the arms! Tonight we feest on the king's spread, and drink the king's Spirits!"

The Chaos Star is a symbol comprised of 8 arrows radiating from a central point. This is the hallmark of the Arms of Chaos, and can be represented in some very creative ways.

If you have an idea for an Arms of Chaos flag design, we'd love to hear about it! Just mention it in the AoC thread on the Naval Action forums or write it up in The Black Mongoose.

Among these was the Haitian religion of Vodun, later known as Vodou and most modernly as Voodoo. Arms of Chaos symbolism is steeped in voodoo influences, ostensibly as a result of freed West African slaves being a primary source of recruits, leading to member flags containing messages in Haitian as a note of hope to captives and a mysterious warning to slaver captains.

"Jolly Jacques" is the standard flag of the Arms of Chaos, the visage of the order's mysterious co-founder with eight arms to represent the eight points of the Chaos Star.

In his upper left hands are a quill and parchment, the contract and duty crewmen aboard this ship have agreed to. In his right upper arm he holds a jeweled goblet, the treasure and reward that is promised to those who pledge their loyalty. Under that is the saber, the duty to fight for what is yours. The bottom arms are open in welcome to those who wish to pledge themselves. And the spear is the peril that awaits those who stand in opposition...
